I ate some raw chicken juice....

I asked Liam tonight how long he was going to kiss me on the lips, he asked me "Does Daddy still kiss you on the lips?" I said "Yes". Then he thought for a while and said "I'll probably kiss you on the lips till I'm an old man, like Great Grandpa."

I sure didn't win any awards for being mother of the year today. On my list of achievements: the house is messy, Isla's clothes have been sitting in a laundry basket for too long to count,  I can't remember the last time I cleaned our bath tub, I lost my temper with Liam this afternoon and cried afterwards, but I did bake muffins!

I read this quote about being a mom and fitting everything in on another blog tonight and it resonated with me:
"We will continue to search the Internet for quick meals, read articles on how to get our kids out the door, buy calendars that promise to help us sort out our lives because that's what we do. We'll be inspired by women who look like they dabble in a great many things, and we'll compare ourselves and forget that their lives are different and there are some areas in which they too feel like they're failing. We will feel guilty and cry some nights that we just can't do it all. And we are right."

Being a mom, a parent is so messy. It brings out the darkness in us that we never really saw before, or if we did see it, we didn't allow it to be seen or known by many others. But now we have these little people watching who are pushing us to the max and what's inside our hearts gets revealed. Sleeplessnes, lack of showering, chaos, loudness, needing a coffee but not getting one, far too much whining, dynamics between kids and moms, children's music, being constantly touched or leaned on or stepped on, and the abnormal amounts of energy my children both have all push me to a point that is tough, really tough.... But in the end, I love my kids. I try to prioritize them because they are all that matters. When I'm old, my clean house, or personal hygiene isn't going to matter. How I treated them, lead them and nurtured them is going to matter. How I spent my days matter. How I speak matters. I'm not saying I always do this, but I want to. I'm inspired by this quote.

"So while your children are little, cultivate an attitude of sacrifice. Sacrifice your peace for their fun, your clean kitchen floor for their help cracking eggs, your quiet moment for their long retelling of a dream that a friend of theirs alledgedy had. Proritize your children far and away above the other work you need to get done. They are the only part of your work that really matters."

Isla has been doing this ridiculous face for a while now. We call it "funny face" and when we want her to do it, we'll say "do your funny face!" and she'll usually do it on cue. Little sister is crawling at high speeds, climbing, can stand on her own for a few seconds, pointing at things, roaring at pictures of lions, shaking her head no and even says "mama". The other night I left to drop drop something at the neighbors house and she pointed out the door and said "mama".  :)

When she doesn't like the feel of something on her knees while crawling, she's crawls like this on her toes. Girl knows what she wants.

And to clarify my subject. My day ended in chicken juice in my mouth. I came out the back door, tripped over Liam's scooter, fell and grabbed the bowl of chicken that was marinating and ready to go on the bar b q which splattered into my mouth. The bowl broke.
At least I got a shower out of it.
